Puja Muhurat
Govardhan Puja is performed to commemorate Lord Krishna's act of lifting the Govardhan Hill to protect the villagers from the wrath of Lord Indra and as a way of showing gratitude for nature's sustenance.
The Pooja Govardhan includes creating a symbolic hill out of cow dung, preparing and offering a "mountain of food" to Lord Krishna, worshipping cows, and performing a circumambulation (parikrama) of Govardhan Hill.
Govardhan Puja is celebrated mostly in North India. Especially in the Braj region, which includes Mathura, Vrindavan, and Govardhan hills. The places are deeply associated with the life of Lord Krishna's childhood. It is also widely celebrated in states like Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra.
